Overview

Eleven year old girl Tina Winston who had an intellectual disability, allegedly became violent in the waiting room of a counselling center and was straddled by a caseworker until police arrived. The police arrived and found her unresponsive but took some time to summon medical aid claiming caseworkers told them she was 'faking' it. According to police, officers shook her and told her to wake up, then moved her to a chair. Police eventually called paramedics who took Tina to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Coroner Dave Moore listed asphyxiation as the cause of Tina's death.
