Overview

Dallas police killed Timothy Raye Mayfield, 67, who they say was armed during a confrontation at a home in Far East Dallas.

Officers were investigating a disturbance around 9:15 p.m. when they heard gunfire coming from inside a home in the 3200 block of Bellville Drive.

The gunman shot at SWAT officers, and they returned fire, Maj. Max Geron said. Officers fired back and shot him.

The Dallas County medical examiner's office identified the suspect as Timothy Raye Mayfield, 67. He died about 12:20 a.m.

No police officers were injured, Geron said.
