Overview

Ramiro Carrasco was killed in an officer-involved shooting with Greeley police early Wednesday morning. According to police, he failed to follow an officer’s commands to keep his hands away from a firearm before he was shot, according to a news release.

A Greeley police officer was in contact with two people in a vehicle about 1:15 a.m. Wednesday in a parking lot of the Island Grove Village Apartments, a Section 8 affordable housing complex on 14th Ave.

The CIRT release says Carrasco, 30, and the driver of the vehicle, had a firearm and he was warned by an officer to keep his hands in the air until a backup unit arrived on the scene.

Carrasco ignored the commands and moved a hand toward the gun, and then the officer fired his weapon.
