Maryland State Police troopers shot and killed a Washington, D.C., man, suspected of burglarizing a department store, after he fled from the scene, smashed into several pursuing police vehicles and then attempted to run over troopers on foot on Friday morning, officials reported.

MSP spokesman Greg Shipley identified the man killed as Rajsaun A. McCray, 29, whose last known address was in the 3600 block of Horner Place SE, Washington, D.C.

"In fear for their lives and the lives of their fellow police officers, three state troopers and one Aberdeen officer fired their agency-issued pistols at the suspect," State Police Spokesman Greg Shipley said in a statement.
