Overview 
Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Marie Montalvo said the man killed is 24-year-old Jose Roman Rodriguez of Brownsville. On August 27, Brownsville police revealed the name of the officer involved as Rolando Trujillo. Cameron County District Attorney Luis Saenz said the man was an aggravated robbery suspect. The shooting happened around 2:11 a.m. A second person, 22-year-old Jaime Gomez, was taken into custody for running away from the incident and faces aggravated robbery charges.
On September 2, 2015, a Cameron County grand jury cleared officer Trujillo of the shooting.
