Overview

LAPD Officer April Harding claimed in a statement that two gang unit officers responded to “a call and tried to stop Flores, who was running by West 6th and South Park View streets near MacArthur Park, said LAPD. She further claimed that “Officers saw a handgun in the man’s hand, and he refused to drop the weapon. That’s when the officer-involved shooting took place.” LAPD also claim that Flores was a “known gang member engaged in a drug deal.”

Jose Flores, a 19-year-old Latino, was shot and killed Wednesday, April 20, near Arbor Vitae Street and Oak Street in Inglewood, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Flores was riding his bike about 4:50 p.m. when a car pulled up and someone inside shot him several time, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.
