Overview

The city man shot by a Camden County Police Department (CCPD) officer last week during a domestic violence response has died.

According to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office, Jose A. Fernandez-Ventura, of Camden, died Sunday at Cooper Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained last Wednesday when a 911 caller reported a fight on Jan. 11 between Fernandez-Ventura and his wife.

The 38-year-old city man was reportedly armed at the time of the shooting and shot at his wife who was holding an 8-month-old baby at the time. He was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
