Overview

Hector Gonzalez, 26, was killed Friday evening during a confrontation with a Boerne police officer. Two officers responded to the 700 block of River Road around 7:30 p.m. for a report of a verbal disturbance and a subsequent report of a man with a gun, the Boerne Police Department said. Police said the first officer on the scene spotted the subjects, based on a clothing description, and approached. The officer instructed one of the men multiple times to turn around, police said. When the man did turn around, he "brandished a weapon in the direction of the officer," the department said in a statement. The officer instructed the man to drop the weapon, police said, but the man did not comply. Police said the officer then fired his gun, hitting the man multiple times.
