Two Texas police officers were recorded on a cellphone video shooting and killing 41-year-old Gilbert Flores while his hands were raised the New York Times reports.
Gilbert Flores' family filed the lawsuit Monday against Bexar County, the sheriff's office and Deputies Greg Vasquez and Robert Sanchez, the San Antonio Express-News reported. The lawsuit claims Flores' civil rights were violated and that officers used excessive force in the Aug. 28 shooting. It seeks unspecified damages, including medical and funeral expenses.
On December 9, 2015, officials in Bexar County announced that the two deputies involved in the shooting death of Flores will return to work after a grand jury declined to charge them.
