36-year-old Georgia Maude Carrera, jumped from a car driven by Joe. A. Nevarez, 46, and was hit by a police car and killed, according to details from an arraignment Wednesday, KBOI-TV2 reported. Nevarez was arrested after the police chase and arraigned Wednesday. He is being held on a $1 million bond and faces charges of felony possession of a controlled substance and felony eluding.

The victim most recently lived in Nampa but currently did not have a permanent address, according to the Canyon County Coroner’s Office.

Police say officers attempted to make a traffic stop about 12:02 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Second Street South, but the driver, Nevarez, fled in his vehicle.

According to a probable cause affidavit by Nampa Police Officer Chadrick R. Shepard, Nevarez’s vehicle reached speeds of 70 mph.

Carrera reportedly jumped from the vehicle at the 1800 block of Second Street South, according to police.

Police ended the pursuit with Nevarez near the area of Highway 45 and East Locust Lane.
