Overview

37-year-old Gene Pool of Pueblo was shot and killed Friday afternoon by Pueblo police.

Pool was identified as a suspect in the Tuesday morning homicide of 23-year-old Wayne Riddock. Pueblo police executed a warrant for Pool’s arrest on Friday.

He was spotted on the East Side and led police on a brief chase that ended at a mobile home park in the 1900 block of Constitution Road.

There, an approximately 45-minute standoff occurred that ended with six officers firing upon Pool, who police say was armed.

Pool was pronounced dead at the scene.

Legal Action

In May, 2000, the officers involved in shooting and killing a homicide suspect in June were cleared of any wrongdoing by the 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
