Overview

A man is dead after he shot at a police officer that was attempting to search him.

Police said after the suspect opened fire, another officer on the scene shot him and killed him.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. on Friday night in the 5100 block of Galahad Road on the city’s northeast side.

That suspect has now been identified as 32 year-old Christopher Fredette.

Chief William McManus with the San Antonio Police Department  said officers were called to the scene for a family disturbance, where the 32-year-old suspect was  being aggressive towards his parents.

McManus said two officers removed the suspect from the house, while another officer stayed inside to talk with the family.

McManus said while the two officers outside attempted to search the suspect, he pulled a gun from his waistband and opened fire, hitting one of the officers in the leg.

The police officer inside the house heard the shots, rushed out and fired at least one shot at the suspect.
