Four city police officers will not be charged in connection with Nov. 25, 2013 shooting death of a Bridgeport man during a weapons sting.

Officer Everton Walker and Detectives Sean Ronan, James Borrico and Christopher Borona “believed the use of deadly physical force was necessary to defend themselves and their fellow officers,” wrote David Shepack, State’s Attorney in the Litchfield Judicial District.

“This was an extremely tough situation for everyone involved,” Chief Joseph Gaudett said. “It’s a very difficult decision for any police officer to use force, but on rare occasions it’s necessary in order to keep our neighborhoods safe and secure.”

Carnell Williams, died of gunshot wounds to his torso, the medical examiner found, and the manner of his death was a homicide, a shooting by police. Shepack was asked to handle the deadly force investigation at the request of Fairfield State’s Attorney John C. Smriga.
