Overview 
Carlos Fuentes, 20, of Cutler, was fatally shot the night of Sept. 20 during an altercation with a sheriff’s gang unit detective in an Ivanhoe neighborhood.
Sheriff’s officials say Fuentes, a suspected Sureño gang member, pulled out a gun, and in response the detective pulled out a gun and fired, hitting Fuentes once.
