Overview

The officer involved shooting happened around 1:00 PM along the 400 block of North Chestnut Street.

Police say that two Toppenish Officers and one Zillah Officer responded to that address for a report of a domestic violence assault that was occurring between a mother and a son.

Officers arrived and a short time later an officer informed dispatch that a person was shot.

Detectives were seen combing through evidence and personal belongings of the man.

It's unclear what caused the officer to pull the trigger, but one witness say he and the man were together when police arrived.

Police say the officers was not injured, though it's unclear if any shots were fired towards the officer.

A Zillah police car was struck by gunfire.

The man's body was taken away by Coroners around 8:00 PM as the emotional family stood outside the home.

October 2019 Police captain dave johnson says 38-year-old alfredo chino had the knife in his hand when officers joshua rosenow and casey briggs fired, killing him, yesterday the two toppenish police officers involved in the fatal shooting in june have been cleared following an investigation by the yakima valley special investigations unit.
