Overview 
The deceased inmate has been identified as Tony Edward May, 26, of Red Lake, Minn.
According to Beltrami County Sheriff Phil Hodapp, the inmate was found unresponsive at the Beltrami County Jail by other cell mates who alerted jail staff around 6:50 a.m. Immediate lifesaving efforts were initiated but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
"The Sheriff’s Office, Jail Staff and Beltrami County officials extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Tony May," Hodapp said.
This is an active investigation by the BCA, no additional details have been released at this point.
