Overview

28-year-old Tien Hua died in a six-hour SWAT standoff at a Rosemead home, according to police. SWAT responded to the 3500 block of Strang Avenue before 4 p.m. LAPD confirmed the fatal shooting suspect died during the standoff around 9 p.m., but details regarding a cause of death were not immediately available. Officers received a tip and a warrant to search the home where the suspect in Tuesday's shooting death was found. Police said the man was connected to a fatal shooting in the 200 block of Sycamore Avenue that left the 27-year-old victim Henry Estrada dead. Estrada's body was found in the bushes next to a home. Officers deployed tear gas but entered the house after the occupant did not come outside, authorities said. A shooting involving officers occurred as SWAT members entered the home, police said.
