Overview

On Wednesday, June 1st, another young person died at CIW. Shaylene "Blue" Graves was African-American, 27 years old and only six weeks away from release. The prison is claiming Shaylene's death as a suicide and her family is demanding answers.

All the CIW deaths and suicide attempts reported to us so far this year have been young women of color. Please join the families of Erika Rocha and Shaylene Graves in continuing to demand a full investigation into CIW conditions leading to these tragic and preventable deaths.

We need your help to bring more attention to this ongoing crisis! Please share this petition and send an email to the Chair of California's Senate Rules Committee asking him to demand a full investigation into the mental health crisis and deaths at CIW.
