An off-duty deputy shot and killed a man during an attempted robbery Tuesday at the China Buffet on North Arlington Street in Salisbury, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
The man entered the restaurant attempting to rob the business wearing a mask and carrying a shotgun, according to police.
An off-duty Rowan County Sheriff’s deputy, who was eating at the restaurant, confronted and shot the man in the chest at about 9 p.m., police said. He died inside the restaurant.
