Authorities have identified the armed intruder killed in Sunday’s officer-involved shooting as 44-year-old Russell D. Donahue of Rockford.
Boone County Coroner Rebecca Wigget announced today that Donahue died of multiple gunshot wounds. His death remains under investigation.
Donahue was shot by Boone County Sheriff's Deputies David Mordt and Austin Schmitt after he allegedly forced his way through a family’s front door and used a handgun to threaten residents in the 300 block of Springmeadow Drive in Poplar Grove.
