Hamill then fled the restaurant in a 2012 Dodge Ram truck with an Oklahoma license plate. The vehicle information was relayed to responding officers. Officers M. Hernandez and R. Hamill exited the vehicle with a Taurus .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun with a flashlight mount in his right hand. Hamill was holding the handgun towards the ground with the light activated. Officers gave Hamill numerous commands to drop the weapon. Hamill raised the weapon from his side in a threatening manner. Officer M. Hernandez fired ten (10) rounds from his Glock 22 service weapon. Officer R. Limon fired seven (7) rounds from his H&K USP 40 service weapon. Officer J. Martinez fired three (3) rounds from his Glock 22 service weapon. Hamill was struck multiple times by gunfire.
