Overview

On 9/7/06, at approximately 9:20 inmate Patsy Roby began complaining of abdominal pain. I/M was unable to either describe her pain nor rate her pain on a pain scale. I/M just kept saying I hurt and want to go home. After examining I/M, I found her abdomen to be soft and non distended. She was tender in both RLQ and LLQ. Hypoactive bowel sounds heard in the LRQ. I/M vomited twice, expelling scant amounts of clear fluids. She denied any diarrhea and was unable to tell me when her last bowel movement was. Her B/P was 160/62 with a heart rate of 68. It was my belief this I/M needed higher level of care, and was transported to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, Texas. I/M was transported by Priority One EMS at 10:23 am this date. I spoke with the ICU charge nurse and she reported to me that I/M began having trouble maintaining her B/P and pulse and went into Respiratory Arrest. I/M expired at 06:58 am on 9/8/06.
