Overview 
Lance McIntire and Gregory Day went to Sol’s Jewelry & Loan on Thursday afternoon to pawn tools so Day could get money to pay his bills.
When the men returned to the parking lot, Day told The World-Herald on Saturday, he was ordered by Omaha police — with their guns drawn — to get on the ground.
Day said he did so, but he didn’t know what McIntire, his friend of about a year, was doing. He said because he was lying on the ground he didn’t see what happened next, but he did hear gunshots.
Police say McIntire got into a red Toyota Camry, locked the doors and refused to get out.
An Omaha police officer fired 16 times, saying he feared for his life as McIntire, 44, drove toward him. McIntire was struck four times and his vehicle also was hit. McIntire was pronounced dead a short time later.
