Overview 
An off-duty Memphis police officer was charged late Wednesday with shooting and killing her domestic partner in an apparent domestic dispute, officials said.
Jaselyn Grant, 34, was taken into custody early Wednesday morning shortly after the shooting, then later charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. Keara Crowder, 29, was shot multiple times and taken to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition. She died just after 2 p.m. , officials said.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Grant was waiting for Crowder to arrive at their home in the 4500 block of Bassett Hall Drive. As Crowder and her son made it there just before 5 a.m., the women began arguing, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chip Washington said. That quickly escalated to gunfire, and responding deputies found Crowder lying in the front yard, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
