Overview

The name of the man killed in a shooting in the Hiseville community of Barren County that also involved a Barren County deputy sheriff has been released by the Kentucky State Police. 

John Williams, 61, of Hiseville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barren County Coroner's Office. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today at the Medical Examiner's Office in Louisville, said a state police press release.

Williams and his wife, whose name has not yet been released, were involved in a domestic situation at their home at 6958 Coral Hill Road. William shot his wife in the arm. She was able to flee the residence and flagged down a passing motorist who took her to a nearby house to call 911, the press release said.

Williams fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival in a white Lincoln Town Car. Deputies were able to locate him around 8:37 p.m. at a cemetery on Coral Hill - Halfway Road, but Williams fled again and led deputies on a pursuit that ended at Williams' home. Williams fired a gun multiple times and in response Deputy Dean Crumbaugh returned fire, the press release said.
