Overview 
Around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, officers with the California Highway Patrol attempted to pull over Luviano for suspected DUI on eastbound Highway 111 near Jefferson Street. Luviano didn't stop at first, but then pulled over and got out of the car with a shotgun, according to the sheriff's department. Officers said they ordered him to lower the weapon but he refused. The California Highway Patrol called the Indio Police Department for assistance.
