Overview

Police fatally shot Jason Spoor at a Northeast Glisan Street house after a confrontation with officers. He was suspected in the murder of another man.

Police were responding to a 9-1-1 call where a woman said she witnessed a homicide.

Police said a woman called 9-1-1 at around 10 p.m. last night. She said she saw the killing in a home at 9124 N.E. Glisan St.

Officers from East Precinct met officers from Southeast Precinct and then took the woman to the house, which was dark; police later determined electricity had been turned off in the empty one-story house.

As they arrived, Spoor came out of the house, and then ran back in and came out with a handgun. At about the same time, Schmautz said, smoke began billowing from windows on the east side of the house. Officers instructed Spoor several times to drop the gun.

Ian Michaud, who lives across the street, said Spoor walked out into the middle of Glisan Street with a gun in his hand.

"He seemed very nonchalant, he was turning around and around,'' Michaud said.

Michaud heard at least two shots that sounded like they had been fired by the same gun, and then a series of shots. Spoor collapsed dead on the north side of Glisan. Firefighters then extinguished the fire.
