Overview

One of the two Columbus Police officers wounded in Wednesday's shootout in Clintonville has been hurt on the job before.

Officer Ty Stoneking was hit with flying glass after multiple shots were exchanged with a man and woman in an SUV he was pursuing. Police reports show Stoneking was stabbed by a man three years earlier.

Andrew Clark was sentenced 9 years in prison for the May 11, 2010 stabbing. Police said that Clark was intoxicated at the time. Stoneking needed several stitches to close a wound to his neck after the incident. He shot Clark three times.

In Wednesday's incident, Stoneking drove himself and Officer Daniel Wolf to the hospital with minor injuries.

They were two of seven officers involved in the incident near North High Street and North Broadway. Columbus Police said Officer Andrew Ross, a 15-year veteran,
Officer Kyle Andrews, a 5-year veteran, Officer David Salsgiver, a 5-year veteran, Officer Patrick Daugherty, an 8-year veteran, and Officer Craig Haller, a 6-year veteran also fired their weapons.

The suspects in the shootout, Kourtney Hahn, 21, and Emanuel Gatewood, 24, opened fire on police officers after allegedly them on a chase in Clintonville. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
